Smoking is one of the most harmful habits people could ever start. The potential for damage to the body is enormous. Study after study being released adds to the total number of health risks to the practice. There really doesn’t seem to be any objective advantage to smoking. So why then, do most people continue? People erroneously believe that people who don’t stop smoking when they know the risk are doing so because they’re mentally weak. Deep down, their flawed logic goes, they really don’t want to quit.
This is the furthest thing from the truth. Smokers are addicted to the practice well beyond the habitual influence of having done it for a long time. Smokers are also physically addicted.
Nicotine is by far the most addictive substance readily available in the Western World. Trying to coax one’s body off of the nicotine addiction results in extremely painful withdrawals. These pains come because the brain gets a high from smoking tobacco and receiving nicotine. It’s essentially punishing you for stopping the supply.
However, the brain is ultimately the most powerful organ. While the physical pains can tempt you, it takes your resolve breaking to give in. Smoking is a potent addiction of both the body and mind. It takes total resolve of both in order to stop.

Quitting cigarettes may be one of the hardest things you ever do. While it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you cannot do it, that is simply not true. You have the capability, and with a few tips and tricks, you can overcome this habit.

One thing to remember is that water and mint are your best friends when you are trying to quit smoking. Water and mint have been proven to help subdue cravings. When you are feeling the urge to smoke, pop a mint or chug a glass of water and wait fifteen minutes. Is this new to you? Catch up here The urge will likely have dissipated.

Keep track of your progress and goals. Reward yourself for them. Quitting smoking is a positive thing you are doing for yourself, and it helps to reward yourself when you do well. Use the money you would have spent on cigarettes to take yourself to a show or buy yourself a new outfit.

Steer clear of the places you normally smoke. Don’t frequent the bars with your smoking buddies. Don’t walk past the smoking area at work. Keep your house clear of all cigarettes, lighters, and reminders.

If you put in the effort to stay away from cigarettes and get healthy, this is something that you can do. And you will be so happy you did.

When it comes to quitting smoking, many people attempt to quit several times before finally succeeding. The main reason for the multiple attempts is that a person is not truly ready and does not use all of the resources available with which to quit. Every smoker is different and people respond to different things.

One way to quit the very first time would be through the use of aids such as nicotine gum and patches. These are meant to deliver the body small amounts of nicotine during the initial phases. It is important to follow all guidelines and directions, as health problems can occur. It is also possible to become addicted to these aids.

Exercise is another thing that can prove to be helpful when quitting properly. When a person smokes, it raises one’s metabolism. Once quit, a person can easily gain weight. By taking a daily walk or doing some sort of workout, a person can keep his mind off of smoking and get valuable exercise in the process.

With a number of different techniques, a person can become smoke free and officially kick the habit the first time.

If the thought of quitting smoking makes your internal Home security system go off like a siren you’ve got to take it easy. It’s all about taking it one step at a time and if you’re thinking about starting day one, we’ve got some tips
Get a Buddy – Just like in AA, you’ve got to have a partner to share the struggles and the milestones. There are 1800 numbers to call if you’re feeling tempted but it’s better to have one of your friends at the ready to talk you down or take a walk.
Make a Reward Schedule – There have to be some things you want, so why not reward yourself for small wins? Every week you go without a cigarette you should get something special – a bag, a night out, whatever you want – to help keep you incentivized.
Throw Them All Out – Don’t make any plans with your smoker friends and throw every single cigarette you have away. Of course you can buy new ones but why tempt yourself with an old pack in the house?

Quitting smoking will be one of the toughest things you will ever do. But you can do it, if you really want to. Protect your health and the health of the ones you love. If you can quit cold turkey, bravo to you! Most of us cannot.

First you have to want to quit. For many using a nicotine substitute, such as the patch or gum is very helpful. Your physical withdrawal symptoms irritability and headache are greatly diminished with this type of gradual withdrawal method. Using the nicotine gum, for many, also helps by being able to get your mouth involved, a part that was very involved, obviously, with the actual smoking process.

It is important to gradually cut down on the doses of nicotine delivered to able to get off of it completely. Also, be aware that the use of the patch or nicotine gum substitutes smoking, so do not smoke while using them. You can overdose on nicotine.
For others, using a prescription drug while reducing smoking may be the your solution. The “smoke-free” cigarette that is just vapor may help by mimicking the motions of smoking. The support and understanding of friends and family are motivating.

Smoking is one of the worst health habits that people can develop. Studies have shown that approximately 20 percent of adults smoke on a regular basis. The number of people smoking has decreased in the past few years, but that number still remains too high. Smoking can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, lung cancer and stroke. It is also important to note that secondhand smoke is also dangerous. Researchers have found that people who inhale secondhand smoke often same the same health effects as those who smoke.

The good news is that many people have been able to successfully quit smoking. Those who quit smoking not only help themselves, but they also help the ones that they love. Smoking is something that can take ten years of of a person’s life. People who stop smoking will be able to live longer, healthier lives. Additionally, those who quit smoking will also be improving the health of their loved ones.

Smoking cessation is not easy, but it is worth making the try. There are no benefits and only risks involved with smoking. The best thing that smokers can do for themselves and their family is make the effort to put the cigarettes down.

To say there are hazards associated with smoking would be a tremendous understatement. Those who smoke place themselves at serious risk of stroke, cancer, heart disease, and serious respiratory illnesses. The human body is not designed to breathe smoke so it should not come as much of a surprise that the body reacts quite negatively to the presence of smoke in the lungs.

Then, there is another serious issue that arises when one smokes tobacco products. The presence of nicotine is enormously problematic and troubling to say the least. It has been shown in medical studies that nicotine has the potential to activate cancer cells. Nicotine is also a poison and it should go without saying that anyone adding nicotine to their bloodstream is doing a disservice to their health.

Those that smoke two packs of cigarettes per day dramatically increase their potential for lung cancer. Anything more than even a “handful’ of cigarettes per day significantly boosts the potential for respiratory problems.

Your lung capacity will diminish when you are smoking and your cardiovascular condition will not operate at its full potential. This can certainly prove to be a drain on the quality of your life.

When all things are taken into consideration, it becomes a much wiser plan to quit smoking and take better care of your health.

As a potential former smoker, I know I can quit any time I want, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Just Kidding.

Seriously, cigarette smoking has been a well known danger for many years, and although the information to document that fact is readily available, quitting smoking is still a very difficult undertaking, and I sympathize with anyone who is trying to stop the habit.

I really am a former smoker who was finally able to quit with a combination of mental mind control and acupuncture to start; followed by nicotine patches, nicotine gum and finally, electronic cigarettes. Although these things helped me tremendously with the physical aspects of my addiction; what finally helped me with the mental aspects of the habit, was a self imposed restriction program.

I started out by designating non-smoking areas in my environment. First my home, then my car, became places where smoking was not allowed. I immediately followed these restrictions with time constraints, where certain hours were off limits for lighting up. After I became used to these limitations, which left me with only a few hours and a few places I was still actually allowed to smoke; I then gave myself a new rule of not being able to light up, until I had written down the reasons I wanted the cigarette, and how much I wanted it, on a scale of one through 10.

This helped me to realize, I did not really want the cigarette as much as I thought I did, and also helped to bring the dangerous aspects of smoking to the forefront of my mind, where I could make a conscious decision to say no.

So, now I just keep saying “no”.

You would be hard pressed to find a smoker that will honestly tell you that they never want to quit. The truth is, many feel powerless to beat nicotine addiction. If you are a smoker, you should know that quitting is not impossible.

Over the counter smoking cessation products prove very effective for many. These products come with a plan to help you quit, and the nicotine replacement to keep your system stable while you get there. Most plans will help you quit completely within six weeks, depending on how much you normally smoke. Is this new to you? Catch up here Products such as these are cost effective. Most costing less than cigarettes themselves.

Half of the battle is mental. Tell yourself each and every day that you can do this. Announce to your friends and family that you are quitting. Having support during this time will help you tremendously. Since your friends and family care about your health, they will be more than willing to help you get through this trying time.

The benefits of quitting are huge. The lungs are one of the only organs that can heal themselves. This healing cannot begin to take place until you quit. Take the step toward better health, and quit today.

There are many myths surrounding the rigors of kicking the smoking habit, and many of the myths have been found to be just that, myths. Most of the myths surrounding kicking the smoking habit have come about due to the perceived rigors of kicking the smoking habit. It is true that kicking the smoking habit can be challenging, but is accomplished daily by many individuals around the world.

One of the greatest myths about kicking the smoking habit, is the myth that an individual must have artificial assistance in kicking the habit. In essence, kicking the smoking habit is very similar to kicking any drug addiction, due to the fact that nicotine is a highly addictive substance. To kick this habit, an individual must seek to detox the body of the nicotine, through drinking large amounts of water, as well as exercise that help to circulate the blood and excrete toxins. Whenever one feels the urge to smoke, immediately begin to exercise, which will release natural endorphins in the brain and give them a natural high, instead of a nicotine high. The reality of kicking the smoking habit is that it will take a great deal of diligence and determination.
